The Sixth Annual Amherst Rotary Club Auction was televised live on  Friday and Saturday November 15 and 16 was a great success netting over $27,700.00 to be donated by the club to non-profits serving the community, college scholarships for local graduating high school seniors, and international projects that support Rotary’s international study and global humanitarian programs. Nearly 400 items were donated to be sold at the auction, which began with online bidding on October 22.

"We are extremely thankful," Rotary President Dick Kraus stated, "for all of the local merchants, artists, residents and Rotary members who donated items for sale or provided other support for the event.”  The live portion of the auction was made possible by volunteers who provided  mroe than four hundred hour of time and work over the two day period.  Ed Severance, Amherst Rotary Auction Chair, noted that this auction had the highest total donation value ever.

“Saturday’s warm weather killed us. Last year sales were about $4,000 higher,” Severance said, “but anytime we net over $25,000.00 we should all be very happy for that is our goal for our annual giving budget.”

The annual multimedia Auction run by the Rotary Club of Amherst, Massachusetts involves the entire community. Offering the public a creative selection of donated auction items, ranging from $25.00 local restaurant gift certificates to African Safaris, the auction is a fun community event that gives everyone an opportunity to get involved in supporting worthy causes, whether as donors, purchasers, viewers or bidders. The auction is held every autumn.
